According to Net Impact’s press release, “Business as UNusual is the only publication for students, by students that ranks and highlights graduate schools at the forefront of social and environmental innovation, featuring over 3,300 student perspectives on nearly 100 graduate programs. The guide provides student ratings of their graduate program’s integration of social and environmental themes into curricula, career services, and student activities.”
Bren has its own student-led Net Impact chapter, mostly populated by students pursuing the Eco-E focus and Corporate Environmental Management specialization. The Bren School Net Impact Chapter has hosted a diverse series of events ranging from academic discussions about Corporate Social Responsibility and the nuances of doing business across cultures to career development opportunities in environmental markets. Net Impact provides opportunities for students to attend conferences and compete in a number of competitions, including the Hult Global Case Challenge. Additionally, the Bren Chapter has hosted the Wal Mart Better Living Business Challenge, sponsored by Net Impact.
Bren’s Eco-Entrepreneurship (Eco-E) program, which is unique to Bren, is an optional focus for MESM students to pursue, and has grown tremendously since its launch in 2007. Eco-E projects allow students to develop a business model, build a prototype concept, and create a go-to market strategy for a new environmental venture.
