The California Association of Environmental Professionals (AEP) is hosting their 2015 conference right here in Santa Barbara from March 22nd to March 25th. The non-profit organization of both private and public sector professionals was formed in 1974 to uphold the environmental analysis and public disclosure procedures put forth by California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Nine chapters exist throughout Santa Barbara, and the Channel Counties Chapter has been an important resource for Bren students. Our very own Dave Parker, Director of Career Development, is the Vice President of the Chapter!
The conference will take place at the Santa Barbara Fess Parker Doubletree Resort and will have over 300 attendees. Featuring exhibits and presentations in CEQA, sustainability, water resources, wildlife management, and more, the conference will be highly informative. Two mobile workshops, the Ventura River Bike Trip and Santa Ynez Valley Sustainable Vineyard/Winery Tour, on March 22nd, and special workshops in SB 743 and NEPA will take place on March 22nd before the opening reception. Aside from being a professional networking event, attendees will have the chance to enjoy the AEP Jam Band Party at 8:00 pm on March 23rd and explore downtown Santa Barbara after the conference on March 24th!
If you cannot attend the 2015 conference but are interested in the valuable educational and networking opportunities offered through AEP, check out their website to find your local chapter: https://www.califaep.org/
